Makkalotsava 2023: A Celebration of Child Rights, Education, and Joyful Learning
On 19th November 2023 Makkalotsava programme for children of evening Tuition center was held with the aegis of CHITHRA Don Bosco and BREADS Bengaluru at CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga. The event started at 9:30 am with the inauguration of Makkalotsava. Rev. Fr. Steven Lawrence (Director of CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga), Rev. Fr. Sebastian (Administrator of CHITHRA Don Bosco), Rev. Fr. Benny Christuraj (Vice-Principal of Don Bosco Degree College), Mr. Chikkanna (Taluk Coordinator of KHPT, Chitradurga) and two Children representatives inaugurated Makkalotsava through cutting ribbon. Fr. Sebastain addressed the children and spoke about the rights of the children and greeted the children and said that that the day was not just Children’s Day but a day to celebrate the essence of flowers, perhaps symbolizing purity and beauty. Then Mr. Chikkanna took a session on health, covering topics such as the definition of health, the different types of health, and ways to protect it. He likely discussed the importance of maintaining both physical and mental health, emphasizing the need to take care of one’s well-being. Interactive activities were used to engage the children, making the learning experience more participatory.
Then the chance games were organized for the children, creating a fun and entertaining atmosphere. The children played these games and received their favorite gifts, adding an element of joy and excitement to the event.
Then group singing and group dance competitions were conducted for the children, providing them with a platform to showcase their talents and creativity. After the competitions, all the children had lunch.
Then stage program began at 2.30 pm. The programme started with prayer song by the children of Belaghatta evening study center. Then Mr. Manjunath, Foster Care mobilizer of CHITHRA Don Bosco extended a warm welcome to everyone. Mr. Thippeswamy (Member of Karnataka Child Protection Commission, Bangalore) was the inaugurator of the program. Rev. Joe (Principal of Don Bosco Degree College, Chityradurga) was the president of the program. Mr. Prabhakar (President of Child Welfare Committee, Chitradurga), Dr. Swamy (Environment Lover, Chitradurga) Rev. Fr. Steven Lawrence (Director of CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga) and Master Chirag & Ms. Kavitha were the representatives of the children adorned the platform.
Fr. Steven Lawrence addressed the program and delivaried key notes through saying about service which are given by CHITHRA for children. The program inaugurated through lightening the lamp by all the dignitaries who adorned the stage.
Mr. Thippeswamy highlighted that children are energy bearers, emphasizing their vitality. He explained about the Child Rights and appreciated for which CHITHRA is working for children from the grassroots level.
Mr. Prabhakar explained that children are invaluable assets to a nation and that there is a collective responsibility to ensure their well-being and protection. He expressed this collective responsibility of society to protect and nurture children through storytelling.
Then Master Chirag and Ms. Kavitha shared their experience of evening tuition center expressing in innocent words that everyone should attend the tuition every day.
Then, Dr. Swamy addressed the children, emphasizing how the use of plastic, consumption of junk food, and our mechanical lifestyle are harming the environment and the country. He also explained how we can prevent it by reducing plastic use and choosing eco-friendly options.
Then Fr. Joe addressed the gathering spoke a presidential speech.
The children of MD Kote informed about only healthy mind is possible to lead a healthy life through MIME on how excessive use of mobile phones affects mental health.
After that Mr. Manjunath conducted felicitation program. First all dignitaries were felicitated. Then the best students were selected from 15 tuition centers and they were also honored and given gifts. After this, two best tuition teachers were selected from 15 tuition centers and they were also honored. Later Ms. Arpitha (Ex-leader of Child Rights Club and tuition teacher of CHITHRA Don Bosco) who won the YAR Children award was also honored.
Then distributed the prizes for winners of group singing and group dance competition.
