National Girl Child Day Celebration
On January 24, 2025, Don Bosco PYaR, Kalaburagi, in collaboration with the Government Higher Primary School, Jafarabad, organized the ‘National Girl Child Day’ celebration. The program commenced with a rally by the School children and staff, which was inaugurated by Mr. Chandrakant and Mr. Dattatraya Kulkarni, members of the Bhimalli Gram Panchayat, along with Fr. Kuriakose, Director of Don Bosco PYaR, Kalaburagi, and Mr. Basayya swamy, Headmaster of the school.
The dignitaries displayed posters highlighting the importance of Protecting the girl child, Education of girl children, Gender equality, “A girl child’s smile is the light of the house”, and “The eyes of the society are our girls, thereby launching the rally.
The rally was organized to raise awareness among the villagers of Jafarabad about the protection of the girl child and to sensitize them against exploitation. Following the rally, training was given, where information about the protection of the girl child was disseminated to the gathering, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding their rights.
The headmaster of the school addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of girls’ continuous education. He informed the students about the various facilities available for girls and encouraged them to make optimal use of these resources.
Mrs. S. Geetha, the Coordinator of the Don Bosco PYaR, Kalaburagi, made a concerted effort to raise awareness among the children about their rights, protection of the girl child, and prevention of exploitation. She highlighted issues like gender equality, discrimination, and female infanticide, striving to sensitize the children.
The Director of Don Bosco PYaR, Kalaburagi, also stressed that “Protecting children is everyone’s responsibility.” He urged everyone to fulfill their responsibilities and encouraged children to pursue education continuously.
The program was attended by several dignitaries, including: Sri Basayyaswamy, Headmaster of the school, Fr. Kuriakose, Director of Don Bosco PYaR, Kalaburagi, Mrs. S. Geetha, Coordinator, Revanasiddappa, Bhagyashree, Kavita, Peerappa, Anganavadi workers, and ASHA workers, Sri Chandrakant and Sri Dattatraya Kulkarni, members of the Bhimalli Gram Panchayat, Students and teachers of the school.
