Onam celebrated with special joy and sharing at Don Bosco College Sulthan Bathery
The vibrant spirit of Onam came alive at Don Bosco College Sulthan Bathery with an electrifying flash mob on 21st August, setting the tone for the festivities. The energetic performance not only launched the event but also unveiled the name of this year’s Onam celebration, “Paathalam”, a fitting tribute to Maaveli, the iconic figure of Onam.
Adding to the pride of the college, a team of talented students from Don Bosco College Sulthan Bathery participated in the district-level Pookalam competition organised by the District Election Commission on 22nd August. The creativity and dedication of our students bore fruit as they secured a well-deserved consolation prize for their captivating Pookalam design.
In a heartwarming extension of the Onam festivities, the members of the management, staff, and students of Don Bosco College reached out to share the joy of Onam with the inmates of a Gandhisadhanam old age home on 23rd August. The students engaged in meaningful interactions with the elderly residents, sharing stories, experiences, and laughter. The college representatives served the traditional Onam Sadhya and dined together with the old age home residents, fostering a sense of togetherness.
The main event day on 24th August, “Onagosham Paathalam 2024,” the spirit of festivity continued at the college. The programme began by welcoming Maaveli to the campus. The Principal and the Manager shared the Onam message and wishes. A series of traditional games and competitions like Pookalam Competition, tug-of-war, Lemon and Spoon race, pot breaking game were organized to engage the participants and bring out the spirit of friendly competition. A traditional Onam Sadhya was served, featuring an array of delicious dishes served on banana leaves, symbolizing unity and harmony.
“Paathalam” not only celebrated the spirit of Onam but also fostered a sense of unity, inclusivity, and cultural appreciation among the students. The vibrant performances, traditional activities, and the overall festive ambiance created a memorable experience for everyone.
