Relief Efforts in Wayanad: Don Bosco College and BREADS Bangalore Step Up
In the wake of the recent landslides in Wayanad, Don Bosco College Sulthan Bathery, with the support of BREADS Bangalore, has been actively involved in relief efforts. The college, located near the affected areas, has mobilized resources to provide immediate assistance to those impacted by the disaster.
Currently, there are 82 relief camps set up to shelter those displaced by the landslides. Students from Don Bosco College are volunteering in 40 of these camps, offering critical support and aid. The college has successfully delivered relief materials to 29 camps, ensuring that basic necessities reach those in need.
In addition to providing material aid, the college’s Psychology department has been instrumental in offering trauma counseling. A team of 15 students and 4 faculty members is dedicated to supporting those affected by the disaster, helping them cope with the psychological impact of the event.
Approximately 150 students are actively volunteering in the camps, while around 60 students remain at the college to assist with the packing and distribution of relief materials. This coordinated effort highlights the community’s commitment to supporting the victims of the landslides and underscores the importance of solidarity in times of crisis.
BREADS Bangalore, in collaboration with Don Bosco College Sulthan Bathery, continues to work on both immediate relief measures and long-term rehabilitation plans to aid the affected communities.
