Strayed Deer in Don Bosco ITI KGF Campus – Rescued and Freed
On May 21, 2025, at around 3:00 p.m., an unusual sound caught the attention of Mr. Thobias, the handyman of Don Bosco ITI, as he was engaged in his routine work. Curious and concerned, he turned toward the source of the disturbance and was startled by a sudden swift movement. It soon became clear that a spotted deer had strayed into the campus from the nearby forest.
The deer, visibly frightened and disoriented, began leaping haphazardly across the campus grounds. The Principal, Rev. Fr. Stephy Francis SDB, was immediately alerted. In keeping with his commitment to civic responsibility and compassion for nature, he promptly contacted the area councillor, Mrs. Shalini Nandakumar. Without delay, she reached out to the emergency services and the fire brigade to ensure the deer could be safely returned to its natural habitat.
The rescue team arrived swiftly, and with the support of the ITI trainees, who eagerly volunteered to assist, a coordinated effort was made to contain the deer and prevent it from further distress. Despite its frantic movements, the deer was safely secured. The incident was also captured by a local news channel, drawing attention to the community’s timely and compassionate response.
The Principal and members of the staff accompanied the deer, along with the forest officials, to a nearby forest area, where it was released back into the wild in the presence of the authorities.
Special thanks are due to Area Councillor Mrs. Shalini Nandakumar, the emergency services, the fire brigade, the forest department, and the Principal and staff of Don Bosco ITI, KGF. Their united action was a shining example of love for God’s creation, civic responsibility, and respect for the law of the land.
