The Commission for Social Communication together with invited experts met at Don Bosco, Vennala on 19th August 2021. Fr. Antony Vailatt, the Rector of Don Bosco Vennala in his welcome speech exhorted the members to plan creative interventions in social media as educators of the young. Fr. Santhosh Manikombel, the Coordinator of the commission briefed the participants about the aim and agenda of the meeting and thanked Fr. Shalbin, the Vice-Provincial for consenting to be present for the first commission meeting of 2021. The meeting was very fruitful with very practical steps being suggested for effective and animating Salesian presence in the world of media. The presence of veterans in the field of communication media enabled in giving right focus and direction to the meeting. The participants felt that a lot is being done in the field of social communication and media, but there is a dire need to coordinate them in the province level to give a face and visibility. Fr. Shalbin in his concluding remarks thanked all those in one way or other have played small and big roles in shaping and contributing towards this very important sector of our apostolate. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Fr. Prince Puthanangady.
