His Absence, a Silent Grief
The First Death Anniversary of our beloved Fr. Antony Mampra was commemorated at Mount Don Bosco Padivayal on the 16th of May 2022 along with his family members, the Salesians and the religious. A solemn requiem mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Jose Thomas Koyickal SDB, the Provincial of the Sacred Heart Province, Bangalore. During the homily Fr. Provincial brought to the notice of all, the holiness of life lived by Fr. Mampra and the manifold contributions he rendered to the Salesian Congregation and to the Church. At the end of the Holy Eucharist Rev. Fr. Thomas Medakkal CMI, nephew of late Fr. Mampra thanked the community and the province on behalf of the family members for having taken care of him so well all through his life especially, in his last days. The office of the dead was prayed at the tomb of Fr. Mampra after the Holy Eucharist and the fraternal meal followed. Let us continue to ‘pray for the repose of the soul’ of Fr. Mampra that which he wished before he left for his eternal reward and that which he penned in his will ‘what I would request is not any solemn funeral, many photos, any eloquent homily or write up, but fervent prayers, remembrance in Holy Masses, the only thing that can help me in my new condition.’
