CHITHRA Don Bosco and CHITHRA Youth Stars Mark Human Rights Day with Awareness Program at Morarji Desai Residential School
To commemorate Human Rights Day, CHITHRA Don Bosco, in collaboration with CHITHRA Youth Stars, organized an awareness program for the children at Morarji Desai Residential School, Goolaiahnahatti, Chitradurga on 10th December 2024. The program commenced with a prayer song by Yashwanth Patil, a student of Morarji Desai Residential School.
Mr. Vijay Kumar, an advocate from Chitradurga, was the chief guest of the program. The program inaugurated by the dignitaries watering a sapling. Mr. Vijay Kumar spoke about the critical importance of human rights in building a just and equitable society. He highlighted that Human Rights Day, celebrated globally on December 10th, is dedicated to the universal rights and freedoms inherent to every individual, irrespective of race, religion, gender, or background. He further explained that this day marks the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, a historic document that continues to serve as a cornerstone for ensuring dignity, justice, equality, and freedom for all.
He emphasized that human rights are not merely abstract ideals or legal concepts but form the foundation for creating safe, inclusive, and prosperous communities.
Following his address, Mrs. Roopa, a history teacher at Morarji Desai Residential School, spoke to the children. Subsequently, Mrs. Anthony Theresa, Program and Communication Coordinator of CHITHRA Don Bosco, addressed the gathering. She shared information about CHITHRA Don Bosco’s services and initiatives, including the MINDS project. She also requested everyone to report cases of children struggling with screen addiction or excessive mobile usage.
Miss Dhanyashree, a student of Morarji Desai Residential School, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. The program’s master of ceremony was Miss Kushi B. Koti, another student of the school.
Teachers, members of CHITHRA Youth Stars, CHITHRA staff members, and 250 children were present for the program.
