Triumph in the Aquatic Arena: Don Bosco Vaduthala Shines at the51st Junior National Swimming Competition

In a spectacular display of athletic prowess and unyielding determination, swimmers from Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Vaduthala, have etched their names into the annals of national glory. The 51st Junior National Swimming Competition, held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from August 3rd to 7th, served as the grand stage for their remarkable achievements, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to nurturing champions.

From a contingent of four talented participants, two brilliant young athletes emerged as medalists, casting a luminous spotlight on their school and state. The resplendent Shreya Binil, competing in Group II girls, demonstrated an extraordinary command of the backstroke, securing a coveted gold medal in the 50m event. Her stellar performance continued with a bronze medal in the 100m backstroke, and she further contributed to a collective triumph, earning a silver medal as part of the 4x100m medley relay team.

Equally magnificent was the performance of Christeena Sojan, also in Group II girls, who showcased her versatility and power. Christeena claimed a well-deserved silver medal in the 200m freestyle and a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle. Her collaborative spirit shone brightly as she, alongside her teammates, secured two more silver medals in both the 4x100m and 4x200m medley relays.

This monumental achievement holds a special significance as the students of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School were responsible for winning the only gold medal for Kerala state, a singular honor that fills our hearts with pride. Furthermore, their collective haul of six medals constitutes a remarkable portion of the state’s total of eleven medals at the national level, a feat that speaks volumes about their talent and training.

We extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt congratulations to Fr. Kuriakose Shasthamkala SDB, the esteemed Principal, whose visionary leadership and unwavering support have created an environment where such excellence can flourish. His dedication has not only made our school and state proud but has also helped these young athletes leave an indelible mark on the national stage.

This triumph would not have been possible without the relentless effort and expert guidance of our swimming coach, Mr. Jency N. Thomas. We commend his hard work and the months of meticulous preparation that forged these swimmers into formidable competitors, capable of excelling on bigger stages. We are also profoundly grateful to the dedicated supporting staff, including Mr. Pradeep D, Mr. Varghese Varghese, Miss Levina, and Miss Rinku, who played a vital role in assisting the coach and ensuring our swimmers performed at their very best. The collective effort and collaborative spirit of this entire team have culminated in a victory that will be cherished for years to come.
