Samanwaya Don Bosco, Palakkad was established in May 2011 to take forward the great cultural traditions of Kerala to the world through the training and performance of Dance, Music and Fine Arts. Samanwaya means cooperation, coexistence, harmony and communion. It inspires a person at the four levels of existence: relationship in one’s own life, relationship with God, relationship towards others and relationship towards nature.

Samanwaya envisions itself becoming an institution known for excellence in Arts and Music education. Samanwaya will impart skill training to less privileged talented young people. The centre will train students to a professional level in music, dance and fine arts, both in eastern and western, thereby enabling them to be sufficiently competent to pursue a career in mass media and /or to be self-employed through creative use of their talents. The project also aims at training, preserving and popularising the rich cultural treasures of our land among people of all faiths and traditions.

In consonance with our vision a skill training centre in two domains, namely hospitality management and fashion designing was initiated in 2012, to train the underprivileged youth of Palakkad in collaboration with Don Bosco Tech, India. DB Tex was started in 2014 as per the wishes of the province to centralise the purchase and distribution of school and college uniforms and stationery. Over the last two years, this service has been extended to non-Salesian schools as well. In 2015 December, a training centre for dance, music and fine arts was inaugurated in a rented house and is functional. In 2015 the Diocese of Sultanpet also entrusted to the Salesians a parish at Athikode.
