For Every Child, Every Right- Children’s Day Celebration Outreach at Don Bosco Bidar
The Don Bosco Bidar Social Work Team, in collaboration with the community of Kamalpur village, celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm under the meaningful theme “For Every Child, Every Right.” The celebration aimed to highlight the importance of child rights, promote children’s talents, and strengthen the involvement of parents, school staff, and child-protection personnel in safeguarding the well-being of every child.
The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the children and the invited guests, symbolizing hope, knowledge, and a bright future for all children. As part of the awareness segment, the social work team prepared and presented a powerful mime show conveying a strong message on the theme “Say Yes to Life and No to Drugs,” creating a deep impact on the students and parents through expressive performance and meaningful storytelling. The children of the school further added colour and vibrancy to the celebration through their lively dances, speeches, and cultural presentations, showcasing their creativity, confidence, and enthusiasm.
Fr. Steven Lawrence addressed the gathering and highlighted that for the past fifteen years, Don Bosco Bidar, in collaboration with BREADS Bangalore, has been consistently working to protect the rights of children through various awareness and support programmes. He explained how initiatives such as CREAM, the Mobile Clinic, and the MINDS project have been instrumental in reaching vulnerable children, empowering them, and creating safer communities across the district. The Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, Mr. Sheempa, spoke to students and parents about the importance of child rights and the collective responsibility of society to safeguard and promote the welfare of every child. He emphasized that every child deserves protection, education, and opportunities for growth. The CRP, Dr. Raghu Shankar, addressed the parents and stressed their crucial role in providing care, guidance, discipline, and emotional support to their children so that they may grow with confidence and dignity.
To reinforce the day’s message, the social work team conducted creative activities such as handprint and finger-paint painting, symbolizing that every child is unique, special, and colourful in their own way. A large number of parents participated in the programme and expressed pride and appreciation for their children’s performances. The programme concluded with a parents’ meeting and the distribution of lunch to all the students, creating a sense of togetherness, joy, and community bonding.
In the afternoon, the Don Bosco Social Work Team organised various competitions for the children, and prizes were distributed to the winners. The participants, children, and parents expressed great happiness and gratitude for the day’s events. The Children’s Day celebration at Kamalpur village became a meaningful occasion, reinforcing the shared commitment to ensuring that every child is valued, protected, and given the rights and opportunities they truly deserve.
