Hodegetria: Mary our guide- a touching stage drama presented by the third year students of KJC
The stage drama Hodegetria: Mary Our Guide was presented by the third-year students of KJC on August 8 and 9, 2026. This annual feature is traditionally performed in preparation for the Feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother, inviting the community to reflect on Mary’s role as a faithful disciple and guide who always leads us closer to Christ.
The central theme of this year’s drama was Mary’s exhortation, “Do whatever he tells you,” taken from the Wedding at Cana. The theme also resonates deeply with the Strenna of the Rector Major for this year, making the drama a fitting and meaningful reflection on Mary’s faith, obedience, and unwavering trust in her Son.
Saturday’s performance was hosted especially for the neighbouring religious communities, while Sunday’s presentation welcomed well-wishers, Salesian Cooperators, and other invited guests.
The drama was a resounding success, creatively reimagining the miracle of the Wedding at Cana within the setting of a contemporary marriage ceremony. Through a blend of drama, music, and dance, the students brought the Gospel narrative to life, highlighting timeless themes of faith, trust, love, and obedience to God’s will.
The one-hour production featured a dedicated cast of 24 theology students, whose commitment and enthusiasm were evident throughout the performance. Their presentation was further enriched by a vibrant dance sequence performed by 10 first-year brothers, adding colour, energy, and youthful exuberance to the evening.
The performances were warmly received and deeply appreciated by all who were present. Beyond its artistic excellence, Hodegetria: Mary Our Guide offered a beautiful spiritual experience, reminding everyone that Mary continues to point us towards Christ and to repeat, with loving confidence, her invitation: “Do whatever he tells you.”
