Assistive Aids Distributed to 35 PwDs in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi, April 16: The Mother Theresa Charitable Hospital Trust, Kalaburagi, organized a significant distribution programme providing assistive aids to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), benefiting 35 individuals across the district.

The initiative, led by Secretary Fr. Dr. Anil Crasta, was carried out in collaboration with DDRC and the ALIMCO Foundation. The programme focused on improving mobility, independence, and social inclusion for beneficiaries, particularly in rural areas.

As part of the initiative, a range of mobility and sensory aids were distributed, including battery-operated and manual tricycles, wheelchairs, crutches, high-gain hearing aids, Braille kits, and smart canes. Prior to distribution, beneficiaries were identified through an extensive rural survey and assessment process.

The Don Bosco Mobile Clinic played a crucial role through its “Doorstep Inclusion” drive, reaching remote villages to identify eligible individuals and assist them in securing necessary documentation such as UDID cards.

The initiative has significantly enhanced the autonomy of beneficiaries, enabling greater mobility and access to livelihood opportunities. Organizers stated that the programme successfully bridged the gap between available resources and underserved rural populations, ensuring that essential assistive technologies reached those in need.
