Retail Training Programme Brings Hope and Empowerment to Differently Abled Youth at Don Bosco Bidar

The Conclusion and Inauguration Programme of the Retail Training Course for Differently Abled was successfully conducted on 12 May 2026 at Don Bosco, Bidar. The programme marked the successful completion of the training course for one batch and the inauguration of a new batch of trainees.

The programme began with a prayer song by Ms. Mamita, invoking God’s blessings upon the gathering and the activities of the day. Mr. Madhukar, the Coordinator of the Learning Activity Centre, warmly welcomed the dignitaries, guests, students, and participants.

The chief guest of the programme was Rev. Fr. P. S. George, Executive Director of BREADS Bangalore. In his keynote address, he encouraged the differently abled students to believe in their talents and abilities and to strive for self-reliance and dignity through skill development and employment opportunities. He appreciated the efforts of Don Bosco Bidar in empowering the differently abled through various initiatives.

Rev. Fr. Steven Lawrence, Director of Don Bosco Social Action Movement, addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of inclusive education and vocational training in transforming lives. Rev. Fr. Dias Anikkudiyil, Assistant Director of Don Bosco Social Action Movement, and Rev. Fr. Mathew Karakkatt, Principal of Don Bosco ITI, were also present for the occasion.

Mrs. Stella presented the report of the previous batch, outlining the various activities and achievements of the trainees during the course period. During the programme, Fr. P. S. George was specially honoured and thanked for the continuous support and encouragement extended towards the Bidar mission and its developmental activities.

A total of 20 students successfully completed the Retail Training Course and were awarded certificates in recognition of their hard work and dedication. Students who secured 100% attendance were honoured with mementoes as a token of appreciation for their commitment and discipline.

As part of the self-empowerment initiative, three deserving students were provided with free electric tailoring machines to support their livelihood and promote economic independence.

The programme also witnessed the enrolment of 20 new differently abled candidates for the upcoming batch of the Retail Training Course, marking another step forward in the mission of empowerment and inclusion.

Ms. Mangala and Mrs. Rameshwari shared their testimonies during the programme, expressing how Don Bosco had positively transformed and influenced their lives through guidance, support, and skill training.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Mandakini, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, organizers, staff members, and participants for making the event meaningful and successful. The event ended on a joyful and hopeful note, inspiring all present towards greater service and empowerment of the differently abled.
