Don Bosco College, Sulthan Bathery celebrates Indian Independence Day
Don Bosco College, Sulthan Bathery, Wayanad, conducted a host of programs to celebrate the 75 years of Indian independenc. As a part of the “Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” that symbolizes India’s proud legacy of 75 years of independence, the college conducted a patriotic song competition titled “Mera Desh, Mera Abhimaan”. It was conducted on 12 August 2022 by the Department of Languages. This was both an intercollegiate and interschool competition. The patriotic song was conducted in two categories-Hindi and Malayalam. The winners were given attractive cash prizes. In the intercollegiate category, the team from St. Mary’s College, Sulthan Bathery won the first prize and the second prize went to Nilgiri College of Arts and Science, Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu.
Don Bosco College created in the campus a “Freedom Wall” depicting the greatest among the freedom fighters. This symbolic representation of the glory of Indian independence imbibed the patriotic spirit of the “Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. This endeavor was initiated by the NSS volunteers and students with creative zeal executed the painting. The Freedom Wall was dedicated to the “Azaadi Ka AmritMahotsav” on 13-08-2022 by Dr. Johnson Ponthempilly SDB, Principal.
The tricolor was hoisted on the campus on 14-08-2022 as a prelude to the Independence Day Celebrations that would take place on 15-08-2022. The national flag was hoisted by the Principal in the presence of the management members and students. The national anthem was sung and an address dedicated to the inspiring history and promising future of the nation was given by the Principal.
