Amidst Devastation, Don Bosco college Sulthan Bathery in collaboration with BREADS Bangalore Unite to Rebuild Hope in Wayanad
In a devastating turn of events, massive landslides in Wayanad district, Kerala, have claimed at least 200 lives and left hundreds missing. The disaster has struck with overwhelming force, leaving entire communities in ruins.
In response to the crisis, Don Bosco College Sulthan Bathery, the Salesian College in closest proximity to this tragedy with the support of BREADS Bangalore, is stepping up to offer crucial support. Don Bosco College Sultan Bathery is focused on providing immediate relief to those affected. Their efforts include distributing essential supplies, coordinating rescue operations, and planning for long-term recovery.
Student Volunteers from Don Bosco College Sultan Bathery is already present and supporting 25 out of the 44 relief camps set up with various essentials such as drinking water, clothes, toiletries etc. With government approval the College is set to provide relief services across all 73 camps in the coming days. Several other student volunteers have been tirelessly working with government rescue teams at the epicenter of the tragedy in various relief and rescue operations. Don Bosco College Sultan Bathery in collaboration with BREADS has collected over 5 lakhs rupees which have allowed distribution of various essentials for those in the relief camps.
Being aware of the harsh realities and the daunting task ahead, the college has already readied teams for cleaning of debris and reconstruction wherever needed.
The situation remains dire as rescue teams grapple with the scale of the destruction. However, Don Bosco College, Sulthan Bathery remains steadfast in its mission to bring aid and restore hope to the beleaguered residents of Wayanad.
