BREADS@10k Bangalore Marathon
The streets of central Bengaluru came alive with vibrant energy, early Sunday morning on 27 April 2025, as the 17th edition of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) World 10K run kicked off, setting the stage for a celebration of athleticism, community and human spirit. Mr. Suresh N, and few other collaborators of BREADS’ represented BREADS in the 5k Majja run category.
BREADS promoted its #Run for SHE campaign for the second year through the marathon. For Suresh, and the BREADS team involved in fundraising, it was a run for a greater purpose—educating girls in rural Karnataka. It aimed to raise funds and awareness locally about the empowerment of vulnerable girls through education; girls like Disha in Hospet, a talented, hardworking and enterprising girl whose parents are unable to educate her because of their poverty, and challenges with cancer and poor health. Disha would like to be a Psychologist. Nisarga, whose father is a landless labourer and sole breadwinner, is being educated by BREADS, and dreams of becoming an IAS Officer(Indian Administrative Service). Last year, BREADS’ collective effort through the TCS marathon, supported the education of 50+ such girls in north Karnataka.
Inspired by this worthy cause, Dr. Jayaprakash M.G, a marathoner, passionate educationist, and the highly accomplished Founder Secretary of Jaihind Group of Institutions volunteered to also #Run for SHE, raising a significant amount of money to educate girls in Karnataka. He is a shining example of the potential of the TCS World 10K as a platform for nonprofits like BREADS, to engage individuals, corporates and communities, using the power of movement as means for positive change. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to him and all the generous donors who supported BREADS’ #Run for SHE campaigns.
TCS World 10K was not just a race; it was a vibrant celebration of life, inclusivity, and resilience. It reminds us that running is not just about crossing the finish line, but about the journey we embark on along the way. In our case, it’s the journey of empowering girls through education in Karnataka. # Run Bengaluru Run!! or ಓಡು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಓಡು
