62nd Foundation Day and Farewell event at Don Bosco ITI, Vaduthala
A combined celebration of 62nd ITI Foundation Day and a farewell ceremony for the secondyear ITI students was meticulously organized at Don Bosco ITI, Vaduthala, on June 25, 2025. The event, which commenced at 10:30 AM and concluded at 1:00 PM, gathered a significant number of participants, including eight Salesian Fathers from the management, the entire teaching and nonteaching staff of the ITI, and all students. The proceedings began with a solemn prayer song led by Paul K.G., setting a respectful tone for the day’s events.
The formal programme was initiated with a welcoming address delivered by Mr. Joy N.O., an Instructor from the Machinist First Year department, who warmly greeted all attendees. This was followed by the Presidential Address, presented by Fr. Sebastian Joseph, the Principal of Don Bosco Technical ITI, who shared his reflections and insights. A symbolic lamp lighting ceremony marked the official inauguration of the event, which was then formally declared open by Fr. Shibu Davis, the Rector of Don Bosco, Vaduthala, in his inaugural speech. He enlightened the gathering about the humble beginning of Don Bosco ITI, Vaduthala, the purpose for which it began, the struggles the ITI went through, and also the success stories of the past pupils. A joyous cake-cutting ceremony ensued, adding a celebratory note to the foundation day aspect of the gathering.
The event then moved into a felicitation segment, where numerous esteemed individuals offered their commendations and good wishes. These included Fr. Jeeson Nelluvelil, Vice Principal of Don Bosco Technical ITI; Fr. Joby Sebastian, Administrator of Don Bosco, Vaduthala; Fr. Kuriakose Shasthamkala, Principal of Don Bosco ICSE School; Fr. Gilton Rodriguez, Director of the Youth Center; Fr. John Mattathuparambil, Director of IYDC; Fr. Immanuvel Ramapuram; Fr. Thomas Poovellikal; Fr. George Ukkran; and Mr. George N.D., GI of Don Bosco Technical ITI. Their presence and words underscored the significance of the occasion and the collaborative spirit within the Don Bosco community.
A crucial part of the programme was the feedback session, allowing second-year students to share their experiences. This segment featured reflections from Mr. Robin Varghese (Fitter Second Year), Mr. Raju Kumar (E Mech Second Year), and Mr. Sajith S (Machinist Second Year), providing valuable insights into their journey at the ITI. First-year students also had an opportunity to extend their wishes to their seniors, with Mr. Abhishek Murali (Machinist First Year) conveying heartfelt sentiments. The initial segment of the event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Philomina Francis, Instructor, E Mech Second Year, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the formal proceedings.
The programme then transitioned to a more emotional and celebratory phase, beginning with a poignant video presentation titled “A Journey of Second Years Through Don Bosco Campus,” which chronicled the experiences of the outgoing students. This was followed by a vibrant cultural programme showcasing the talents of the students and staff. Performances included a solo by Ashwin Prathapan, energetic group dances by Electronics Mechanic First Year, Machinist First Year, and Fitter First Year students, as well as captivating performances by Electronics Mechanic Second Year and Fitter Second Year groups. A highlight was the group dance performed by the staff, demonstrating unity and spirit. The cultural programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Arun Kumar K, Instructor, ACD. The entire event wrapped up with an “Enjoyment Song” and the National Anthem, bringing a fitting close to a memorable day of celebration and farewell.
