Grand Spectacle Unfolds as CISCE National Pre-Subroto Cup 2025 Kicks Off in Kochi

Kochi, Kerala – July 17, 2025 – A vibrant tapestry of culture, sportsmanship, and academic excellence unfurled today as Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Vaduthala, proudly hosted the much-anticipated inauguration of the CISCE National Pre-Subroto Cup U-15. This prestigious football tournament, organized under the esteemed Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, promises three days of exhilarating competition, running from July 17th to July 19th. The seamless orchestration of this grand event is a testament to the exceptional leadership of Fr. Shasthamkala Kuriakose SDB, Principal of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, and the tireless dedication of his entire staff.

The inaugural ceremony, held amidst an atmosphere of palpable excitement at the Don Bosco Senior Secondary School Auditorium in Vaduthala, was graced by distinguished personalities. The event was formally inaugurated by Mr. Joseph Immanuel, the Chief Executive and General Secretary of CISCE, whose presence underscored the national significance of the championship. Sharing the dais were an array of respected dignitaries, including Fr. Shibu Davis SDB, Rector and Manager of Don Bosco Vaduthala; Fr. Shasthamkala Kuriakose SDB, the host Principal of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School; Mr. Arnav Shah; Fr. Kalapurackal Shino SDB; Fr. Kanjooparambil Josh SDB; and Fr. James Mullassery CMI. Also notably present were Muhammad Aiman and Muhammad Azar, distinguished alumni of the Don Bosco Sports Academy, Vaduthala, and current members of the Kerala Blasters football team, adding a touch of inspiration to the occasion.. Each luminary addressed the eager assembly, articulating the profound importance of the tournament in fostering talent and promoting holistic development among students. Several speakers particularly emphasized the critical role of sports in schools, highlighting its capacity to enhance student focus and serve as a constructive deterrent against negative influences prevalent during formative years.

The inauguration was a truly mesmerizing affair, commencing with a magnificent traditional “chendamelam” that greeted guests from the main gate, filling the air with pulsating rhythms and setting a celebratory tone. Inside the auditorium, a series of captivating performances unfolded. The programme began with a beautiful and profoundly prayerful dance that enveloped the entire assembly in an aura of serene contemplation. This was followed by a breathtaking cultural dance, a vibrant kaleidoscope that authentically depicted the rich heritage of Kerala through various folk forms, evocative religious dances, and dynamic martial arts displays. These exquisite performances seamlessly transitioned into the formal protocol of the inauguration, marking the official commencement of what promises to be a thrilling display of young sporting prowess.

The highly anticipated matches of the CISCE National Pre-Subroto Cup U-15 will take place at the sprawling college ground of Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam, over the next three days, as ELEVEN teams vie for supremacy and the coveted championship title.
