Fr. Jimmy Jose SDB Advances Semantic AI with Doctoral Triumph at CHRIST University

CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, celebrated a milestone in advanced AI research as Fr. Jimmy Jose SDB, research scholar in the Department of Computer Science, successfully defended his doctoral thesis titled “Semantic Relevant Sequential Keyphrase Generation Using Deep Reinforcement Learning.” The defence took place at 11:30 AM in the R&D Block, and was attended by faculty, fellow researchers, and distinguished guests, including Fr. Dr. Jose Koyickal, Provincial and Fr. Shalbin Kanlanchery, Vice Provincial of the Salesian Provincial of Bangalore, along with other Salesians. Supervised by Dr. Beaulah Soundarabai P, the thesis introduced three novel models—GoD-BERT, GWebPositionRank, and MADeGen—designed to enhance keyphrase generation in dynamic environments. These models integrate goal-specific preprocessing, graph neural networks, and multi-agent reinforcement learning to distinguish between present and absent keyphrases with high semantic accuracy. Fr. Jimmy’s work demonstrated significant improvements in precision, recall, and semantic diversity across benchmark datasets such as SemEval2017, Inspec, and PubMed. His research contributes to applications in dialogue systems, search engine optimisation, and intelligent text summarisation. The doctoral committee commended the originality and technical depth of the work, noting its potential impact on the future of Natural Language Processing. With this successful defence, Dr Fr. Jimmy Jose sdb joins the distinguished cohort of AI researchers contributing to the advancement of semantic computing and intelligent language systems.
