SSG Children Experience Joy and Fun at “Cartooniverse” Makkala Mela
One hundred and twenty children from the Social Service Guild (SSG) learning and activity centres experienced a day of unbridled joy and entertainment at “Cartooniverse,” a Makkala Mela (Children’s Fair) organized by the Rotaract Club of Shishu Mandir (RCSM) at Shishu Mandir Education Centre, Bangalore, on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
The day long event, held under the Rotaract theme “Chase Your Passion” and sponsored by Rotary Bangalore Whitefield Central and Shishu Mandir, brought together children from various backgrounds for a celebration of childhood, creativity, and community spirit.
A Day of Delight
The festivities commenced at 9:30 AM with registration, followed by a welcome address. The morning session was dedicated to games and fun activities, where children revelled in attractions including a popcorn and candy stall, face painting, and temporary tattoos; simple pleasures that lit up young faces throughout the venue.
After a nourishing lunch break, the afternoon programme featured a formal welcome address and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. A highlight of the day was an engaging magic show that captivated the children’s imagination, followed by cultural performances including a presentation by Rtr. Nishya and a special performance by Grace and Light Ashram. The programme also featured an open stage segment, giving children an opportunity to showcase their own talents before an appreciative audience.
SSG’s Participation
The 120 children representing SSG were accompanied by teachers from their respective learning and activity centres, ensuring a safe and enriching experience for all participants. The coordination and logistics for SSG’s participation were ably managed by Brothers Sandesh, Winston, and Gaurav, along with Tony Sir, whose efforts ensured smooth transportation and care for the children throughout the day.
Building Bridges of Collaboration
The event exemplifies the Social Service Guild’s commitment to providing holistic experiences for children beyond the classroom. By partnering with organizations like the Rotaract Club of Shishu Mandir, SSG continues to open doors for children from marginalized communities to participate in enriching social and recreational activities.
The day concluded at 4:15 PM with a group photograph session, capturing the smiles and memories of a joyful celebration that reminded all present of the simple yet profound gift of childhood happiness.
