An HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme was organized at Don Bosco Tech Society, Hassan, in collaboration with Don Bosco ITI, Hassan under the efficient guidance of Rev. Fr. Andrew SDB, the Rector and principal. The programme aimed to educate and sensitize students about HIV/AIDS, its modes of transmission, preventive measures, and the importance of dispelling misconceptions and stigma associated with the disease.

The session was facilitated by Mrs. Manjula K.H., ICTC Department, OBG Department, HIMS, Hassan , who provided the students with comprehensive information about HIV and AIDS. She explained the difference between HIV and AIDS , the various modes through which HIV can be transmitted, and the precautions that can be adopted to prevent transmission. She also highlighted the importance of awareness, responsible behaviour, timely testing, counselling and seeking appropriate medical support.

As part of the programme, students from Rajeev College of Nursing presented an informative role play based on HIV/AIDS awareness. Through their performance, the students effectively portrayed real-life situations and conveyed important messages regarding prevention, responsible practices, empathy and the need to avoid discrimination against people living with HIV.

The interactive session enabled the students to gain accurate and practical knowledge about HIV/AIDS and encouraged them to become responsible ambassadors of health awareness within their families and communities. The programme also emphasized that correct information and awareness play a vital role in prevention and in reducing fear, misconceptions and stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS.

The programme concluded successfully with a strong message to the students to spread factual information, adopt preventive practices and promote a supportive and non-discriminatory attitude towards individuals affected by HIV/AIDS.
