WE-LivE Exhibition: Promoting Women’s Equality and Community-Based Enterprises

Fishermen Community Development Programme (FCDP), under the WE-LivE Project, organised an exhibition at Pallichantha, Sooranadu, on 23 August 2026 as part of the celebration of Women’s Equality Day. The programme was conducted under the leadership of FCDP in collaboration with WE-LEAD KASAFI and Kerala Latin Catholic Women’s Association (KLCWA), with the participation of seven Self-Help Group (SHG) groups. The exhibition was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Varghese Clement, Parish Priest, St. Joseph Forane pilgrim church, Sooranadu.

Various products prepared by the women through the training programmes were displayed and marketed at the exhibition. The products included curry powders, snacks, fruit jams, pickles, squash, organic vegetables, health mix, and other food products. A live food stall was also arranged as part of the exhibition. In addition, products developed under the WE-LivE Project were promoted and marketed among the visitors.

Mr. Ramees, District Panchayat Member, and Mrs. Jessy, Sooranadu Grama Panchayat Member, visited the exhibition and interacted with the participating SHG members. They appreciated the initiatives undertaken for women’s empowerment and delivered messages highlighting the importance of women’s equality, self-reliance, and economic empowerment.
The exhibition received great appreciation and positive feedback from the visitors. It provided the participating women with an opportunity to showcase their skills, promote their products, interact with potential customers, and gain exposure to local markets. The programme also strengthened the confidence of the women and encouraged them to develop their enterprises further.

Overall, the exhibition was successfully conducted and served as a meaningful initiative towards women’s empowerment, economic independence, and strengthening community-based enterprises under the WE-LivE Project.
